A financial crisis (and for once the word "crisis" is apt) has opened beneath our feet, threatening to swallow God only knows how much of our prosperity in its maw, and the two candidates were unable to see beyond their own narrow political interests and unable to resist searching for effigies to burn.

Creators Syndicate - Appearing on C-SPAN last weekend I mentioned that Barack Obama had opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act when he was an Illinois state senator — a position he has attempted to deny or obfuscate ever since.

Creators Syndicate - The vice presidential debates are still two and a half weeks off, yet Governor Sarah Palin has already demonstrated a toughness under pressure that bodes well for her performance that night and throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Creators Syndicate - I was polled last night. Yes, it happens. I spent half an hour on the telephone with a representative of the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. The results will be made public in a few days. One question stands out. They asked, "Do you know what Barack Obama's religion is?"
